{"id":32542,"date":"2024-09-12T22:00:19","date_gmt":"2024-09-13T05:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/acts-23_1-11-copy\/"},"modified":"2024-08-06T20:52:11","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T03:52:11","slug":"acts-23_12-22-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/acts-23_12-22-2\/","title":{"rendered":"God\u2019s Plan Will Prevail"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Acts 23:12-22 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts+23%3A12-22&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">(CLICK HERE FOR\u00a0BIBLE VERSES)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32488 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/24-0913.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/24-0913.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/24-0913-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Acts 23:12-22.\u00a0 As usual,\u00a0I encourage you to read the passage yourself first and see what you can glean with the Holy Spirit\u2019s help, then read the GAME sharing below.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Acts 23:12-22 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The next morning the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.<br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0More than forty men were involved in this plot.<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They went to the chief priests and elders and said, &#8220;We have taken a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Now then, you and the Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him before you on the pretext of wanting more accurate information about his case. We are ready to kill him before he gets here.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But when the son of Paul&#8217;s sister heard of this plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul.<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Paul called one of the centurions and said, &#8220;Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So he took him to the commander. The centurion said, &#8220;Paul, the prisoner, sent for me and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The commander took the young man by the hand, drew him aside and asked, &#8220;What is it you want to tell me?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He said: &#8220;The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul before the Sanhedrin tomorrow on the pretext of wanting more accurate information about him.<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Don&#8217;t give in to them, because more than forty of them are waiting in ambush for him. They have taken an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They are ready now, waiting for your consent to their request.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The commander dismissed the young man and cautioned him, &#8220;Don&#8217;t tell anyone that you have reported this to me.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 12-22:\u00a0 Growing up as a kid I loved watching James Bond movies.\u00a0 Not only did James Bond show tremendous skill, heart, and suave as he went about his mission, but he was also extremely lucky.\u00a0 In every James Bond movie, there would be some crucial moment when his life would be in grave danger and he would be spared not because of his skill, his heart or his suave, but simply because he happened to be in the right place at the right time or because someone else happened to lend him a hand.\u00a0 That\u2019s what I see happening here with Paul too.<\/p>\n<p>Repeatedly in Acts 21-23 we have already seen that Paul has been granted special favour or protection simply because he happened to be a Jew from Tarsus (Acts 21:39), or he happened to be a Roman citizen (Acts 22:25), or he happened to come from a family of Pharisees (Acts 23:6).\u00a0 Yet again here we see that, for reasons other than Paul\u2019s skill, heart and suave, Paul is delivered from certain death.\u00a0 Forty Jews conspire to kill Paul and vow not to eat or drink until they have done so.<\/p>\n<p>Yet despite all their careful planning, just in time Paul\u2019s nephew happens to get wind of their assassination plot and is able to tell Paul and the Roman commander in charge of Paul\u2019s custody.\u00a0 To ensure Paul\u2019s safety, the Roman commander will arrange for Paul to be shipped out of Jerusalem under extensive protective security.\u00a0 Just because Paul happens to have a nephew who hears about the plot against Paul\u2019s life, Paul gets rescued.<\/p>\n<p>Are all these coincidences?\u00a0 Absolutely not.\u00a0 God\u2019s hand is on Paul\u2019s life and no matter what plots people make against Paul, God is going to ensure that His plan for Paul\u2019s life prevails.\u00a0 It reminds me of Psalm 33:10-11 which says:<br \/>\n<em><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>\u00a0The\u00a0LORD\u00a0foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But the plans of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Likewise, God&#8217;s plan for your life is greater than anyone else&#8217;s, and no matter what He will make sure that His plan for your life prevails.<\/p>\n<p><em>Father, thank You that no matter what I plan or anyone else plans, it is Your plan for my life that will prevail, and that Your plans are better than anyone else\u2019s.\u00a0 So let Your will be done and let Your kingdom come in my life.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2022 Justin Lim.
