{"id":3452,"date":"2019-06-04T20:00:27","date_gmt":"2019-06-05T03:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/?p=3452"},"modified":"2019-06-02T00:30:54","modified_gmt":"2019-06-02T07:30:54","slug":"2kings_19_1-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/2kings_19_1-19\/","title":{"rendered":"When You\u2019re Under Pressure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>2 Kings 19:1-19 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Kings+19%3A1-19&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3453 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/190605.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/190605.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/190605-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/190605-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><br \/>\nHi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is 2 Kings 19:1-19.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Kings 19:1-2 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the\u00a0LORD.<br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-4:\u00a0 \u00a0King Hezekiah\u2019s officials deliver Assyria\u2019s intimidating message to Hezekiah.\u00a0 In response, Hezekiah does a wise thing: (1) he pours his heart out to God, spending time in His presence; and (2) he seeks counsel from the prophet Isaiah.\u00a0 What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Whenever you are under great pressure or receive bad news, the best thing you can do is to go to God and spend time in His presence.\u00a0 If necessary, seek godly counsel too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On verses 5-13:\u00a0 Isaiah gives Hezekiah an encouraging, reassuring message from the Lord, promising that the Lord will cut down Assyria\u2019s king Sennacherib.\u00a0 Shortly after that, Hezekiah receives a letter from King Sennacherib trying to shake Hezekiah\u2019s confidence in God\u2019s Word and trying to show that Israel is no different from all the other nations that Assyria has laid to waste.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Sometimes you will be faced with two opposing voices and two opposite messages about the same situation.\u00a0 You need to have the discernment to listen to the Lord\u2019s voice above and beyond any other voices that you may hear.<\/strong>\u00a0 And when you find that other voice particularly distracting, do what Hezekiah does in verse 14.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Kings 19:14-15 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0and spread it out before the\u00a0LORD.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And Hezekiah prayed to the\u00a0LORD: &#8220;O\u00a0LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth.
