They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 31-47:\u00a0 As part of describing the Levites, the Chronicler singles out three Levites whom King David put in charge of the music in the temple.\u00a0 There\u2019s Heman who wrote Psalm 88.\u00a0 Asaph who wrote Psalms 50, 73-83.\u00a0 And there\u2019s Ethan who wrote Psalm 89.\u00a0 These men used their musical gifts and their heart of worship to lead the Israelites into the presence of God through song.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0 The fact that the Chronicler would spotlight the music ministers of the temple shows how important music was to the Israelites\u2019 worship of the Lord.\u00a0 Music does not equal worship, but\u00a0<strong>music can be a powerful tool for worshiping God<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the things I find so awesome and beautiful about Christ\u2019s kingdom is how much music plays a part in our worship of God.\u00a0 It seems to me that there is a much richer and much more diverse musical heritage in Christian worship than in any other faith in the world.\u00a0 Other religions and even atheists and agnostics as a whole are not as well known for using music to express what they believe.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit keeps inspiring great music in those who worship Jesus.\u00a0 \u00a0In fact, some of the most beautiful and influential music ever produced has been in the context of Christian worship.\u00a0 Even much of pop music today finds its musical roots in gospel music.<\/p>\n<p>Why is that?\u00a0 I believe it\u2019s because God Almighty whom we worship is a creative Artist and a Musician Himself.\u00a0 His presence is so full of joy it gives us reason to sing, dance, shout, and create.\u00a0 His love is so real and passionate that we are invited to bring our full range of emotions to Him through song.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Music has always been God\u2019s instrument for us to more deeply engage in His presence and connect with Him on a spirit level.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Music reminds me that I\u2019m not to come to God with cold-hearted pride, but with the humility and simplicity of a child who just enjoys spending time with His Abba Father.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0God wants His church to be filled with excellent and beautiful music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So don\u2019t ignore the role music can play in your worship of God.\u00a0 When you go to a church service, don\u2019t just sit through the music and wait for the sermon.\u00a0 Use music as your tool to engage the presence of God.\u00a0 When you spend time with God one on one, take advantage of the gift of music.<\/strong>\u00a0 Play your favourite worship music in the background as you pray.\u00a0 Sing a new song to Him.\u00a0 \u00a0When you do, your heart will soften.\u00a0 You\u2019ll give room for the Holy Spirit to speak to you.\u00a0 You\u2019ll be reminded that our faith is not just cerebral or academic; rather it involves our whole being, including our emotions and our spirit.\u00a0 As Jesus says, it\u2019s in\u00a0<em>spirit\u00a0<\/em>and truth that we worship Him.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214&amp;id=5a274652a2&amp;e=b608fe02a2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214%26id%3D5a274652a2%26e%3Db608fe02a2&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1560402596974000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEIkEAAG-pcIW2a4Y8LL3gyZ84xeA\">Here\u2019s a song I\u2019ve been listening to as I draw near to God in my GAME time today<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214&amp;id=d3e2244b96&amp;e=b608fe02a2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214%26id%3Dd3e2244b96%26e%3Db608fe02a2&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1560402596974000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG15VjZ31CZ6jKxTuaTvAdnEFfEVA\"><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><u><a href=\"https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214&amp;id=3e05e98563&amp;e=b608fe02a2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214%26id%3D3e05e98563%26e%3Db608fe02a2&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1560402596974000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHOCy-LfY-_-SsKawE-DlHueZkWpQ\">https:\/\/www.youtube.<wbr \/>com\/watch?v=8zcahjpMmoc<\/a><\/u><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 6:64-65 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>64\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So the Israelites gave the Levites these towns and their pasturelands.<br \/>\n<sup>65\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0From the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin they allotted the previously named towns.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 48-81:\u00a0 Here in these verses the Chronicler describes Aaron and his descendants (v50-53), the lands that they were allotted (v54-60), as well as the lands that the rest of the Levites were given (v61-81).\u00a0 Notice especially verses 60-81 how the Levites were given substantial lands from all the other tribes of Israel \u00a0For example, the Levites are given land from the tribes of Benjamin (v60, 65), Manasseh (v61-62), Issachar, Asher and Naphtali (v62), Reuben, Gad and Zebulun (v63), Judah, Simeon and Benjamin (v65), Ephraim (v66-67).<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0 Here are two lessons I learned from these verses:<\/p>\n<p>1.<strong>\u00a0God wants His people to take special care of those who dedicate their working lives to serving the church.<\/strong>\u00a0 God never intended that His servants who work in the church be poor, deprived, just getting by.\u00a0 He wants those who work in the church to be well provided for.\u00a0 How well do you and your church look out for and provide for those who work in the church while the rest of us do other work?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>That\u2019s why God\u2019s Word commands us to tithe.\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s because whether or not you tithe has a direct impact on how well your church can provide for those who have dedicated their working lives to serving God, you and all the people in your church.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>So be a faithful tither, trusting God\u2019s promise that as we seek His kingdom first He will add everything we need.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2.
