By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 20-22:\u00a0 In our day a lot of people long to be famous.\u00a0 But here we learn something about fame from the most famous person of all, Jesus Christ: fame is a double-edged sword.\u00a0 For example:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; You may have crowds that love you, but you\u2019ll also find it difficult to have a normal life because of it.\u00a0 For example, Jesus couldn\u2019t eat his meal because there were people crowding him and clamoring for his attention (v20).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; People whom you thought would always have your back may end up misunderstanding you and trying to control you, just like Jesus\u2019 family who said he was out of his mind (v21).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; You may have many that love you, but you\u2019ll also have your\u00a0share\u00a0of critics who will dislike and criticize you no matter what you do and without really knowing you (v22).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; When you\u2019re famous, you may have influence and power that others do not have, but you\u2019ll also have a target on your back that others don\u2019t have too.<\/p>\n<p>Let these verses be a sobering reminder that fame is not all that people make it out to be.\u00a0 Don\u2019t put your hope in fame. \u00a0<strong>Whether you\u2019re loved by a few or by millions, know that it doesn\u2019t change your worth in the sight of God, who gave His life for you when nobody knew about you except Him.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Mark 3:23-30 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: &#8220;How can Satan drive out Satan?<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0In fact, no one can enter a strong man&#8217;s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house.<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them.<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He said this because they were saying, &#8220;He has an evil spirit.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 23-30:\u00a0 Critics claimed that Jesus was only able to perform incredible miracles like healing the sick and driving out evil spirits because Jesus himself was empowered by an evil spirit.\u00a0 Jesus responds by showing that his critics\u2019 reasoning was illogical and did not make sense: \u201cHow can Satan drive out Satan?\u201d \u00a0If Satan\u2019s own team was so divided, Satan wouldn\u2019t be such a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n<p>The reason Jesus is able to drive out demons and advance against Satan\u2019s kingdom is not because he is with Satan but because He is stronger than Satan.\u00a0 Jesus does it by binding \u201cthe strong man\u201d (i.e. Satan), entering the strong man\u2019s house (i.e. Satan\u2019s territory) and carrying off his possessions (i.e. the people that were under Satan\u2019s bondage).<\/p>\n<p>Rather than working with Satan, Jesus was coming against Satan.\u00a0 \u00a0To keep thinking otherwise and to attribute Jesus\u2019 work to Satan is blasphemy (making disrespectful and false statements about God) (v28-29).\u00a0\u00a0 It is a serious sin to attribute Jesus\u2019 work to his enemy, so don\u2019t confuse the work of Jesus with the work of Satan.<\/p>\n<p><em>Father, thank You that when we were bound to a strong man called Satan, Someone stronger \u2013 Your Son Jesus \u2013 came, tied Satan up, and set us free.\u00a0 Thank You that long before anyone knew me, You knew me and You loved me.\u00a0 Thank You that I belong to Someone stronger.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>copyright \u00a9 2022 Justin Lim.
