Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet<br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and pleaded earnestly with him, &#8220;My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 21-23:\u00a0 Had the people living in the region of the Garasenes welcomed Jesus to stay, Jesus may not have crossed over to the other side of the lake and met Jairus and his dying daughter so soon.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The Garasene people\u2019s rejection of Jesus actually opened the door for Jesus to do other and greater miracles elsewhere.\u00a0 When one door closes, another door opens.\u00a0 In all things God works for good.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Mark 5:24-26 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him.<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 24-26:\u00a0 This woman was bleeding not just physically.\u00a0 She was bleeding financially.\u00a0 She was bleeding emotionally.\u00a0 She was bleeding hope.\u00a0 For 12 years.\u00a0 No one seemed to be able to help her and she was desperate.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Mark 5:27-34 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak,<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0because she thought, &#8220;If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, &#8220;Who touched my clothes?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;You see the people crowding against you,&#8221; his disciples answered, &#8220;and yet you can ask, &#8216;Who touched me?'&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.<br \/>\n<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.<br \/>\n<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He said to her, &#8220;Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 27-34:\u00a0 Jesus, humble as he was, credits this woman\u2019s faith as what healed her.\u00a0 Of course we know that it wasn\u2019t just her faith but Jesus\u2019 power that brought her healing (v30).\u00a0 The lesson here? \u00a0<strong>Rightly-placed faith activates God\u2019s saving power.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0It\u2019s not that my faith by itself saves and heals me, but when I place my faith where it belongs \u2013 in Jesus \u2013 I experience God\u2019s power.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Like a light switch, my faith in Jesus, when turned on, activates God\u2019s power in my life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also, notice this: Jairus the synagogue ruler (v22), the bleeding woman (v33), and the demon possessed man (v6) all \u201cfell at Jesus\u2019 feet\u201d and as a result all of them experienced God\u2019s power.\u00a0 The lesson here?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Those who humble themselves before Jesus will experience His grace and power in their lives<\/strong>, whereas those who pridefully push Jesus away forfeit the grace that could be theirs.\u00a0 As Scripture says repeatedly, God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble (e.g. 1 Peter 5:5; Proverbs 3:34).<\/p>\n<p><em>Jesus, I fall at Your feet today and ask You to fill me with Your power.\u00a0 I can\u2019t do anything good apart from You, but with You all things are possible.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>copyright \u00a9 2022 Justin Lim.
