{"id":3862,"date":"2019-07-08T20:00:23","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T03:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/?p=3862"},"modified":"2019-07-07T18:03:57","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T01:03:57","slug":"1chronicles_12_23-40","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/1chronicles_12_23-40\/","title":{"rendered":"United and Fighting for the Same Goal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>1 Chronicles 12:23-40 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Chronicles+12%3A23-40&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3863 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/190709.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/190709.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/190709-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/190709-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is\u00a0Wednesday January 31, 2018\u00a0on 1 Chronicles 12:23-40.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 12:23-37 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0These are the numbers of the men armed for battle who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul&#8217;s kingdom over to him, as the\u00a0LORD\u00a0had said:<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Judah, carrying shield and spear&#8211;6,800 armed for battle;<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Simeon, warriors ready for battle&#8211;7,100;<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Levi&#8211;4,600,<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0including Jehoiada, leader of the family of Aaron, with 3,700 men,<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and Zadok, a brave young warrior, with 22 officers from his family;<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Benjamin, Saul&#8217;s kinsmen&#8211;3,000, most of whom had remained loyal to Saul&#8217;s house until then;<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Ephraim, brave warriors, famous in their own clans&#8211;20,800;<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of half the tribe of Manasseh, designated by name to come and make David king&#8211;18,000;<br \/>\n<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do&#8211;200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command;<br \/>\n<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty&#8211;50,000;<br \/>\n<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Naphtali&#8211;1,000 officers, together with 37,000 men carrying shields and spears;<br \/>\n<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Dan, ready for battle&#8211;28,600;<br \/>\n<sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0men of Asher, experienced soldiers prepared for battle&#8211;40,000;<br \/>\n<sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and from east of the Jordan, men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, armed with every type of weapon&#8211;120,000.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 23-37:\u00a0\u00a0Here the Chronicler lists how many men from each tribe of Israel came to David to help turn Saul\u2019s kingdom over to him.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Notice how often these verses repeat the words \u201carmed for battle\u201d or \u201cready for battle\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When you want to join with others in seeing God establish His kingdom where you are, you need to be ready and prepared for battle.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0That is why Paul says in Ephesians 6 that we must put on the full armor of God so that when our enemy comes we will be ready to take our stand against Him.\u00a0\u00a0As Peter says, \u201cBe self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.\u201d (1 Peter 5:8-10)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>How do you get yourself ready for battle? Spend time in God\u2019s Word daily.\u00a0\u00a0Ask His Holy Spirit for help and depend on Him.\u00a0\u00a0Meditate on God\u2019s Word often.\u00a0 Pray often (for with much prayer comes much power).\u00a0\u00a0When you face different situations, ask the Holy Spirit for insight, discernment and an alert heart.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles\u00a012:38\u00a0(NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 38:\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Here we again see the importance of unity.\u00a0\u00a0Unity is shown not just in the fact that members of a team get along. Even more, unity is shown in how the members of a team all share the same mind and vision to reach the same goal.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0In this case, the goal of David\u2019s team was to make David king of Israel.\u00a0\u00a0Are you of the same mind and goal as the leaders of your church?\u00a0\u00a0Are you fully determined to give your best toward that goal?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 12:39-40 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The men spent three days there with David, eating and drinking, for their families had supplied provisions for them.<br \/>\n<sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Also, their neighbors from as far away as Issachar, Zebulun and Naphtali came bringing food on donkeys, camels, mules and oxen.
