Today\u2019s passage is 1 Chronicles 17:16-27.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

1 Chronicles 17:16 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong>
\n16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then King David went in and\u00a0sat<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0before the\u00a0LORD\u2026\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

On verse 16a:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0After God spoke amazing promises to David in verses 1-15, notice David\u2019s reaction: first, he sits before the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0Often I find that the most powerful thing I can do is to sit before the Lord, to be still in His presence.\u00a0\u00a0Sitting before the Lord is my power position.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s where I most often sense the Holy Spirit speaking to me.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s where I process and digest the words He has spoken to me.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s where I recalibrate my heart and mind.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0When I\u2019m lost, confused, frustrated or hurting, I sit.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s where I experience His presence and peace.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Do you want to develop a deeper, closer relationship with the Holy Spirit?\u00a0\u00a0Take the time to sit before the Lord often.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then King David went in and sat before the\u00a0LORD, and he said: “Who am I, O\u00a0LORD\u00a0God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

On verse 16b-22:\u00a0\u00a0The second thing David does in response to God\u2019s Word is he humbles himself before God.\u00a0\u00a0David did not come to God with a sense of entitlement as if God owed him, nor did David well up with pride in himself. Rather, David recognized that the reason he and his nation could receive such amazing promises was all because of God\u2019s undeserved mercy and grace.\u00a0\u00a0Like David,\u00a0when you hear God\u2019s Word, have a humble attitude.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0“And now,\u00a0LORD, let the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house be established forever. Do as you promised\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 23-27:\u00a0\u00a0The third thing David does in response to God\u2019s Word:\u00a0\u00a0he receives it with faith.\u00a0\u00a0Rather than doubting or second-guessing, David simply says, \u201cAmen!\u00a0\u00a0Thank You!\u00a0\u00a0Do as You have promised.\u00a0\u00a0Let it be.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0May we have a similar attitude whenever You hear His great promises.\u00a0Whenever you hear God’s promises for you\u00a0<\/strong>— promises like, \u201cI am with you.\u00a0\u00a0I will never leave you or forsake you.\u00a0\u00a0I know the plans I have for you.\u00a0\u00a0God is for you and not against you.\u00a0\u00a0In all things God works for the good of those who love Him\u201d —\u00a0may your response always be \u201cAmen!\u00a0\u00a0Thank You!\u00a0\u00a0Let it be so.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
