Should a kind God punish our mistakes? From our perspective there are only two equally unappealing solutions.\u00a0 But from God\u2019s perspective there\u2019s a third.\u00a0 It\u2019s called \u201cthe Cross of Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cross is where God forgave his children without lowering his standards.\u00a0 How could he do this? In a sentence:\u00a0 God put our sin on his Son and punished it there. \u201cGod put on him the wrong who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God\u201d (2 Corinthians 5:21 MSG).<\/p>\n<p>Why did he do it? Because \u201cGod so loved the world that he gave his only son\u201d (John 3:16 NLT). \u00a0Aren\u2019t you glad the verse doesn\u2019t read \u201cFor God so loved the rich\u201d? \u00a0Or \u201cFor God so loved the famous\u201d?
