He endured not just the nails of the Romans, the mockery of the crowd, and the spear of the soldier, but he endured the anger of God.<\/p>\n<p>God didn\u2019t just overlook your sins, lest he endorse them. He didn\u2019t punish you, lest he destroy you. Instead he found a way to punish the sin and preserve the sinner. Jesus took your punishment, and God gave you credit for Jesus\u2019 perfection.<\/p>\n<p>As long as the cross is God\u2019s gift to the world, it will touch you but it will not change you. Precious as it is to proclaim, \u201cChrist died for the world,\u201d even sweeter it is to whisper, \u201cChrist died for\u00a0<em>me<\/em>.\u201d For\u00a0<em>my<\/em>\u00a0sins he died. He took\u00a0<em>my<\/em>\u00a0place on the cross.
