Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 28:4-6 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Yet the\u00a0LORD, the God of Israel,\u00a0<strong>chose<\/strong>\u00a0me from my whole family to be king over Israel forever. He\u00a0<strong>chose<\/strong>\u00a0Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah he\u00a0<strong>chose<\/strong>\u00a0my family, and from my father&#8217;s sons he was pleased to make me king over all Israel.<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Of all my sons&#8211;and the\u00a0LORD\u00a0has given me many&#8211;he has\u00a0<strong>chosen<\/strong>\u00a0my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0over Israel.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He said to me: &#8216;Solomon your son is the one who will build my house and my courts, for I have\u00a0<strong>chosen<\/strong>\u00a0him to be my son, and I will be his father.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 1-6:\u00a0\u00a0In these verses, David addresses the leaders of Israel (political officials, tribal leaders, military commanders, warriors and others).\u00a0\u00a0First, David recounts how he originally had it in his heart to build a temple for the Lord where the ark of God could rest (v2), but that God told him that he was not the one to build the temple due to his having shed other people\u2019s blood in battle (v3).\u00a0\u00a0David then recounts how God hand-picked him to be king over Israel (v4).\u00a0 God also chose his son Solomon to be his successor (v5) and to build the temple that David had in mind (v6).\u00a0Notice how often, especially in verses 4-6, the word \u201cchose\u201d or \u201cchosen\u201d comes up over and over.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>God does not pick His servants randomly or by accident.\u00a0\u00a0God is specific, intentional and purposeful in the choices He makes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Likewise, if you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, over and over the New Testament says that you have been chosen (Romans 11:5; Ephesians\u00a01:11; Colossians\u00a03:12; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; Revelation\u00a017:14).\u00a0\u00a0<strong>God did not choose you by accident or at random, but intentionally, deliberately, and specifically.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0You are God\u2019s chosen one!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 28:7 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will establish his kingdom forever if he is unswerving in carrying out my commands and laws, as is being done at this time.&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 7:\u00a0\u00a0God promised that He would establish Solomon\u2019s kingdom forever\u00a0<em>if\u00a0<\/em>Solomon was unswerving in carrying out God\u2019s commands.\u00a0\u00a0But Solomon wasn\u2019t, not even close.\u00a0 As a result his kingdom did not last.\u00a0\u00a0However, there was another descendant of David who would unswervingly carry out God\u2019s commands. His name is Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0As a result of Jesus&#8217; obedience to His Father, His Father would give Him the name that is above every name and a kingdom that would last forever.\u00a0\u00a0Like Solomon, we did not fully obey the Lord and did not deserve to be part of His eternal kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0But praise God that\u00a0<strong>where Solomon failed, Jesus succeeded, and Jesus\u2019 obedience has won us a place in God\u2019s kingdom forever<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 28:8 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;So now I charge you in the sight of all Israel and of the assembly of the\u00a0LORD, and in the hearing of our God: Be careful to follow all the commands of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your de<\/em>scendants forever.<\/p>\n<p>On verse 8:\u00a0\u00a0David uses his unique authority and influence to tell these high profile leaders of Israel to carefully follow God\u2019s commands.\u00a0\u00a0David\u2019s reason: \u201cthat you may possess the land God had given them and pass it on as an inheritance for generations to come.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>There are certain people in your life over whom you have unique influence.\u00a0 Use that influence to lead them to God&#8217;s Word.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"2\">God gives us His commands not to limit our freedom but to expand our territory, so that we and the generations that come after us may be blessed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 28:9 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with\u00a0<strong>wholehearted devotion<\/strong>\u00a0and with\u00a0<strong>a willing mind<\/strong>, for the\u00a0LORD\u00a0searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verse 9:\u00a0\u00a0David now turns his attention to his son Solomon, telling him to fear and serve God with his whole heart and mind.\u00a0\u00a0There are at least three important truths we can learn from verse 9:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>God made you to serve him with your whole heart\u00a0<em>and\u00a0<\/em>mind.<\/li>\n<li>God does not just look at what you do, but why you do it.\u00a0\u00a0(\u201cthe Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts\u201d)<\/li>\n<li>If you seek the Lord, you will find Him.\u00a0\u00a0If you forsake Him, He will reject you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 28:10 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Consider now, for the\u00a0LORD\u00a0has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verse 10:\u00a0\u00a0Here David affirms that his son Solomon is the one God chose to build the temple. Then David says, \u201cBe strong and do the work.\u201d What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s God\u2019s job to do the choosing.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s our job to be strong and do the work.\u00a0\u00a0Don\u2019t just rest on the fact that God has chosen you.\u00a0\u00a0Put your hands to work.\u00a0\u00a0When we respond to God\u2019s call with courage and hard work, the results are powerful.\u00a0\u00a0The Biblical formula for success can be written this way:\u00a0\u00a0<strong>God\u2019s call + faith + wisdom + hard work = Destiny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is 1 Chronicles 28:1-10.
