When the child of Elijah\u2019s friend died, the prophet prayed for the boy. \u201cAnd God listened to Elijah\u2019s prayer\u2026Elijah picked the boy up, carried him downstairs from the loft, and gave him to his mother. \u2018Here\u2019s your son,\u2019 said Elijah, \u2018alive!\u2019\u201d 1 Kings 17:22-23 MSG).<\/p>\n

The power of praying it through. Elijah believed in it. Jesus taught it. He told his followers \u201cthat it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit\u201d (Luke 18:1 MSG).\u00a0Take the dead and dying portions of your life\u2014the vigor that has faded, the faith that has dwindled\u2014and lay them before the Lord. And next to them place our society, which seems sicker day by day.<\/p>\n

The theologian Samuel Taylor Coleridge called prayer \u201cthe greatest achievement of the Christian\u2019s warfare upon earth.\u201d If you want to take a stand against the enemy, hit your knees.<\/p>\n
