Immediately after the Mount Carmel experience, Elijah instructed Ahab, \u201cGo, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain\u201d (1 Kings 18:41 NIV). But then we read that the sky was cloudless. How do we explain his announcement?\u00a0I found the answer in the Hebrew word that is translated\u00a0sound<\/i>. Elijah was choosing to hear God\u2019s covenant and disregard the circumstances.<\/p>\n

The circumstances: the silent sky, the blazing sun, dearth of clouds. The promise of God, the words spoken to Elijah, said, \u201cPull out your umbrella.\u201d Elijah chose to hear the \u201cvoice\u201d of God\u2019s promise.<\/p>\n

What about us? Multiple times each day, we choose the message we follow.\u00a0Are we reeling from the problems, or are we standing on God\u2019s promises?<\/p>\n
