Then they acknowledged Solomon son of David as king a second time, anointing him before the\u00a0LORD\u00a0to be ruler and Zadok to be priest.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 21-22:\u00a0\u00a0It touches my heart deeply to think that David\u2019s last act as king of Israel, before he handed the reigns of his kingdom to his son Solomon, was to lead his people in worshiping the Lord, both through giving the most generous offering they could muster together (v1-9) and giving God praise through prayer and song (v10-20).\u00a0\u00a0And now,\u00a0one day later, the people are at it again, giving God worship through generous sacrifices and offerings (v21).\u00a0\u00a0They eat and drink together with great joy before recognizing and anointing Solomon as their king and ruler (v22).\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?\u00a0<strong>The most important thing you can do with the power God has given you is lead others to know and worship the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0Like David, may you do it until you don\u2019t have the power to do it anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>1 Chronicles 29:23-25 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So Solomon sat on the throne of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0as king in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him.<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0All the officers and mighty men, as well as all of King David&#8217;s sons, pledged their submission to King Solomon.<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The\u00a0LORD\u00a0highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him royal splendor such as no king over Israel ever had before.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 23-25:\u00a0\u00a0Here Solomon assumes the throne and the leaders of Israel (\u201call the officers and mighty men, as well as all of King David\u2019s sons\u201d) pledge their submission to him.\u00a0\u00a0As verse 25 says, God exalts Solomon and bestows splendor on him like no king over Israel ever had before.\u00a0\u00a0I believe\u00a0<strong>these verses are pointing us forward to the day when\u00a0centuries later, another Son of David \u2013 one greater than Solomon \u2013 would come and assume the throne, and at his name every knee will bow and every tongue confess that he is Lord.\u00a0\u00a0All honour, worship, splendor and majesty are due Him.\u00a0\u00a0His name is Jesus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Chronicles 29:26-30 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0David son of Jesse was king over all Israel.<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He ruled over Israel forty years&#8211;seven in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He died at a good old age, having enjoyed long life, wealth and honor. His son Solomon succeeded him as king.<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0As for the events of King David&#8217;s reign, from beginning to end, they are written in the records of Samuel the seer, the records of Nathan the prophet and the records of Gad the seer,<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0together with the details of his reign and power, and the circumstances that surrounded him and Israel and the kingdoms of all the other lands.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 26-30:\u00a0\u00a0This ends our look at the book of 1 Chronicles.\u00a0\u00a0While the book of 1 Chronicles contains hundreds of names beginning with Adam, it is David\u2019s life that dominates this book.\u00a0\u00a0Out of 1 Chronicles\u2019 29 chapters, David\u2019s life is intricately involved in 18 of them (chapters 11 to 29).
