Today\u2019s passage is 2 Chronicles 3:1-17. Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

On verses 1-14:\u00a0\u00a0In approximately 966 B.C., Solomon begins building the temple in Jerusalem.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0What strikes me as I read these verses is how much Solomon incorporated designs of cherubim (i.e. angels) into the temple.\u00a0\u00a0Solomon carves cherubim into the walls (v7) and works them into the curtain (v14).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Most obvious and impressive of all, in the inner sanctuary of the temple called the Most Holy Place, Solomon erects a pair of massive cherubim whose wings span the entire Most Holy Place from wall to wall (v10-13).\u00a0\u00a0Later on Solomon will place the ark of God under the wings of the cherubim (see 2 Chronicles 5:7), such that whenever the high priest would inquire of God at the ark in the Most Holy Place, huge angels would tower over him, watching over him.<\/p>\n

Why does Solomon incorporate so many different representations of angels into the temple?\u00a0\u00a0It was to remind the people of what the Bible teaches, that the spiritual realm is real and that angels are real.\u00a0\u00a0Angels are described as powerful, ministering spirits sent to serve God\u2019s people (Hebrews\u00a01:14), protect God\u2019s people (Psalm 34:7), deliver special messages from God (e.g. Judges 6:11-12) and administer God\u2019s will (e.g. Exodus\u00a012:23; Daniel\u00a010:10; Acts\u00a012:23).\u00a0\u00a0While much about angels remains a mystery to us, both the Old Testament and the New Testament, including Jesus and Paul teach repeatedly about the reality of angels.\u00a0\u00a0For more on angels, the late Reverend Billy Graham\u2019s book\u00a0Angels\u00a0<\/em>is an excellent teaching guide on what the Bible teaches on angels \u2013 who they are and what they do.<\/p>\n

Praise God that while Satan and demonic powers are real, just as real are angels whom God has sent to serve and protect us.\u00a0\u00a0So whenever you experience amazing protection, provision or deliverance which cannot be attributed, don\u2019t be closed to the very real possibility that God has sent angels to minister to you.<\/p>\n

2 Chronicles 3:15-17 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong>
\n15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0In the front of the temple he made two pillars, which [together] were thirty-five cubits long, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits.
\n16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He made interwoven chains and put them on top of the pillars. He also made a hundred pomegranates and attached them to the chains.
\n17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He erected the pillars in the front of the temple, one to the south and one to the north. The one to the south he named Jakin and the one to the north Boaz.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 15-17:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Solomon erects two pillars at the front of the temple: the one to the south he names Jakin (meaning \u201cHe establishes\u201d) and the one to the north he names Boaz (meaning \u201cin Him is strength\u201d).\u00a0\u00a0Notice the initials of these pillars are J.B.\u00a0J\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019m kidding \u2013 well, partly.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The fact is that God has made all of us who have trusted in Jesus Christ as Saviour to be pillars in His temple.\u00a0\u00a0As Jesus says in Revelation\u00a03:12, \u201cHim who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it\u2026\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Praise God. Through your faith in Jesus Christ, God the King makes you a pillar in His temple and He stands by your side, declaring His Word that He will never leave you.<\/p>\n

Heavenly Father, thank You for making me a pillar in Your temple, and for sending angels to surround me, protect me, and assist me.\u00a0\u00a0May I never take for granted the work that Your angels do in my life.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
