Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Chronicles 5:1 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When all the work Solomon had done for the temple of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0was finished, he brought in the things his father David had dedicated&#8211;the silver and gold and all the furnishings&#8211;and he placed them in the treasuries of God&#8217;s temple.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 1:\u00a0\u00a0It took Solomon seven years to build the temple of the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0Good things take time to build.\u00a0\u00a0Little by little, bit by bit, God is building us into the temple He made us to be (1 Peter 2:5).\u00a0\u00a0His building project in us was never meant to be done overnight, but takes a lifetime.\u00a0\u00a0So in case you\u2019re prone to beating yourself up, be patient; God is not finished with you yet!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Chronicles 5:2, 10 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Solomon summoned to Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark of the\u00a0LORD&#8217;s covenant from Zion, the City of David&#8230;<br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the\u00a0LORD\u00a0made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 2-10:\u00a0\u00a0In these verses Solomon brings the ark of God, as well as the other temple furnishings, into the temple in grand fashion.\u00a0\u00a0He invites all of Israel on the seventh month of the year (v3) during Israel\u2019s biggest feast of the year \u2013 the Feast of the Tabernacles \u2013 to witness the transporting of the ark to the temple.\u00a0\u00a0Solomon and the people offer so many sacrifices that they cannot be counted (v6).\u00a0\u00a0Pastor Jon Courson makes some beautiful connections between the ark of God and Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ark of God was made of acacia wood (Exodus 25:10), which never rots and is found in dry ground.\u00a0\u00a0Wood that never rots speaks of Jesus and how he is the holy one whose body will never see decay (Psalm16:10) and that he is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).\u00a0\u00a0Also, like acacia wood, Jesus is described as a root out of dry ground (Isaiah 53:2).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; The exterior of acacia wood has thorns, just like Jesus wore a crown of thorns.<br \/>\n&#8211; The interior of acacia wood includes a gum-like substance known for its healing properties and used for medicine in the Middle East; similarly, Jesus wounds brought us healing (Isaiah 53:5).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ark was a wooden box covered with gold.\u00a0\u00a0Gold symbolizes deity while wood symbolizes humanity.\u00a0The gold covering the wood speaks of how Jesus was both divine and human all at once.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Jesus is the God-man.<\/li>\n<li>The ark contained the two tablets showing the Ten Commandments (v10).\u00a0\u00a0Just as the ark was the only thing that could keep God\u2019s law, Jesus was the only one who could keep (that is, fulfill) God\u2019s entire law and never sin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><br \/>\n<strong>2 Chronicles 5:11-12 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place. All the priests who were there had consecrated themselves, regardless of their divisions.<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0All the Levites who were musicians&#8211;Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives&#8211;stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 11-12:\u00a0\u00a0The musicians were dressed in fine linen. Remember what fine linen represents.\u00a0\u00a0Revelation 19:8 says that fine linen represents the righteousness of the saints, God\u2019s people.\u00a0\u00a0Praise God that because we are covered by the blood of Jesus our righteousness, we can be priests in God\u2019s kingdom and celebrate the permanent presence of God in our lives.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Chronicles 5:13-14 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the\u00a0LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the\u00a0LORD\u00a0and sang: &#8220;He is good; his love endures forever.&#8221; Then the temple of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0was filled with a cloud,<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0filled the temple of God.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 13-14:\u00a0\u00a0As the musicians and singers give praise to God with one voice, the temple is filled with a cloud so thick that the priests cannot go on with the service as planned.\u00a0\u00a0The cloud that filled the temple is representative of God\u2019s presence.\u00a0\u00a0What\u2019s the lesson here?\u00a0 When God\u2019s people give offerings generously and praise God in unity, God\u2019s presence can be felt in a tangible way.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, thank You that You are good and Your love endures forever.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You that when we Your people give generously without restrictions and when we unite in praise, Your presence becomes tangible and strongly felt among us.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You that we are now Your temple (1 Corinthians\u00a03:16) and You have deposited Jesus, Your ark, in us by the Holy Spirit.\u00a0\u00a0Be glorified today and may the cloud of Your presence be our cover and our joy.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is 2 Chronicles 5:1-14.
