Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n

2 Chronicles 14:1-7 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong>
\n1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And Abijah rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. Asa his son succeeded him as king, and in his days the country was at peace for ten years.
\n2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0his God.
\n3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.
\n4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He commanded Judah to seek the\u00a0LORD, the God of their fathers, and to obey his laws and commands.
\n5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him.
\n6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the\u00a0LORD\u00a0gave him rest.
\n7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0“Let us build up these towns,” he said to Judah, “and put walls around them, with towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the\u00a0LORD\u00a0our God; we sought him and he has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 1-7:\u00a0\u00a0Asa takes over from his father Abijah as the new king of Judah.\u00a0\u00a0Asa\u2019s first course of action is to lead Judah in turning away from idol worship (v3, 5) and toward seeking and obeying the Lord (v4).\u00a0\u00a0As a result, the land of Judah experiences great peace, rest, strength and prosperity (v5b-7).
\nWhat can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0When we take the time to remove the idols from our lives and to seek the Lord, we give God more room to work and in return He brings His peace and blessing into our lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2 Chronicles 14:8-15 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong>
\n8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Asa had an army of three hundred thousand men from Judah, equipped with large shields and with spears, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin, armed with small shields and with bows. All these were brave fighting men.
\n9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Zerah the Cushite marched out against them with a vast army and three hundred chariots, and came as far as Mareshah.
\n10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Asa went out to meet him, and they took up battle positions in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.
\n11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Asa called to the\u00a0LORD\u00a0his God and said, “LORD, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O\u00a0LORDour God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. O\u00a0LORD, you are our God; do not let man prevail against you.”
\n12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The\u00a0LORD\u00a0struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah. The Cushites fled,
\n13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar. Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover; they were crushed before the\u00a0LORD\u00a0and his forces. The men of Judah carried off a large amount of plunder.
\n14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They destroyed all the villages around Gerar, for the terror of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0had fallen upon them. They plundered all these villages, since there was much booty there.
\n15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They also attacked the camps of the herdsmen and carried off droves of sheep and goats and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 8-15:\u00a0\u00a0Though Asa had a large army, he was greatly outnumbered by his enemy Zera the Cushite.\u00a0\u00a0Asa puts his hope not in the size of his army but in the Lord, saying, \u201cLord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty.\u00a0\u00a0Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you<\/strong>\u201d (v11).\u00a0\u00a0May you live with that same attitude today:\u00a0like Asa, don\u2019t depend on your own strength and wisdom, but rely on the Lord and believe that He is able to help the powerless against the mighty.\u00a0\u00a0When you do so, you will experience God\u2019s power working in your weakness and like Asa experience a great victory over the enemies that surround you.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heavenly Father, truly there is no one like You who helps the powerless against the mighty.\u00a0\u00a0So we rely on You, hunger for You, and place our hope not in ourselves but in You.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You for Your peace and blessing that come when I turn from idols and seek Your face.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n
