{"id":4908,"date":"2019-09-11T20:00:13","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T03:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/?p=4908"},"modified":"2019-09-08T22:05:41","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T05:05:41","slug":"2chronicles_22_1-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/2chronicles_22_1-12\/","title":{"rendered":"You Are Rescued Royalty"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>2 Chronicles 22:1-12\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Chronicles+22%3A1-12&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4909 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190912.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190912.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190912-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190912-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is 2 Chronicles 22:1-12.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Chronicles 22:3-4 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He too walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him in doing wrong.<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He did evil in the eyes of the\u00a0LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for after his father&#8217;s death they became his advisers, to his undoing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-9:\u00a0\u00a0One of the big, ongoing themes of 2 Chronicles is that it matters whom you get advice from and whom you partner with.\u00a0\u00a0After Jehoram king of Judah dies, his youngest son Ahaziah takes over the throne, since raiders have killed off all of Jehoram\u2019s older sons (v1).\u00a0\u00a0Like his father before him, Ahaziah is heavily influenced by Athaliah Ahaziah\u2019s mother, \u201cwho encouraged him to act wickedly\u201d (v3).\u00a0\u00a0Ahaziah is also heavily influenced by Athaliah\u2019s side of the family, the house of King Ahab of Israel, who \u201cbecame his advisers, to his undoing\u201d (v4).\u00a0\u00a0As a result of these corrupt influences on Ahaziah\u2019s life, we see three effects on Ahaziah.\u00a0\u00a0First, Ahaziah \u201cdid evil in the eyes of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done\u201d (v4).\u00a0\u00a0Second, Ahaziah would end up fighting battles he was never meant to fight and facing dangerous situations he was never meant to be in.\u00a0\u00a0For example, due to his alliance with the house of Ahab, Ahaziah ends up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>helping Joram King of Israel wage war against Aram at Ramoth Gilead (probably to avenge the death of Joram\u2019s grandfather Ahab at Ramoth Gilead) (v5).<\/li>\n<li>going to visit Joram after Joram is wounded in the war (v6) only to be killed off along with Joram and the house of Ahab by Jehu (v7-9).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0The advice we take and the people we partner with will determine our destiny.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When we allow the wrong people to influence our lives, we end up fighting wars we were never meant to fight and facing dangerous situations we were never meant to face.\u00a0\u00a0This can result in our undoing.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0When you seek advice, make sure to get it from a godly, wise source.\u00a0\u00a0When you partner with another in marriage or in another long term relationship, make sure that that partner is someone who loves God and has good character.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<strong>2 Chronicles 22:10-12 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family of the house of Judah.<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes who were about to be murdered and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of the priest Jehoiada, was Ahaziah&#8217;s sister, she hid the child from Athaliah so she could not kill him.<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He remained hidden with them at the temple of God for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 10-12:\u00a0\u00a0Seeing that her husband Jehoram, her son Ahaziah and all her other sons have died, Athaliah refuses to let any other male relative in Jehoram\u2019s royal family take over the throne.\u00a0\u00a0As queen mother Athaliah assumes control of the kingdom of Judah herself for 6 years, while systematically trying to eliminate any potential threat to her power.\u00a0\u00a0However, there is one baby boy, a son of Ahaziah, who is hidden from Athliah\u2019s reach.\u00a0\u00a0His name is Joash.\u00a0\u00a0For the next 6 years Joash would be protected, hidden and raised by Ahaziah\u2019s sister Jehosheba and her husband Jehoiada the priest in the temple of the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0When I read about how Jehosheba and her husband Jehoiada hid Joash from Athaliah, I am reminded of two things:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>How infant Jesus and infant Moses were both rescued and spared in similar ways from a mass killing of boys their age.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"2\">Just as God used a priest and his wife to rescue Joash from Athaliah\u2019s grasp, God used a priest and his bride to rescue us from Satan\u2019s agenda to steal, kill and destroy us.\u00a0\u00a0That priest God used to save us is God\u2019s own Son Jesus Christ.\u00a0\u00a0His bride who helped rescue us is the Church.\u00a0Through Jesus Christ and the help of his bride the Church, God rescued us, raises us and prepares us one day to rule for His glory.\u00a0\u00a0Like Joash, you are rescued royalty!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, may I always be careful about whom I get advice from and whom I partner with, for these will determine my destiny.\u00a0\u00a0Also, thank You that just as You used Jehoiada the priest and his wife Jehosheba to save and rescue Joash, so You used Your Son Jesus and His bride the Church to save and rescue me.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You for rescuing and redeeming me so that I can reign and rule with You.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<div
