{"id":5101,"date":"2019-09-22T20:00:36","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T03:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/?p=5101"},"modified":"2019-09-21T23:23:56","modified_gmt":"2019-09-22T06:23:56","slug":"2chronicles_29_1-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/2chronicles_29_1-19\/","title":{"rendered":"God Chose You"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>2 Chronicles 29:1-19 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Chronicles+29%3A1-19&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5278 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190923.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190923.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190923-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/190923-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is 2 Chronicles 29:1-19.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Chronicles 29:11 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0My sons, do not be negligent now, for the\u00a0LORD\u00a0has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-19:\u00a0\u00a0We now turn our attention to one of the greatest kings in Judah\u2019s history, Hezekiah.\u00a0\u00a0At 25 years old, Hezekiah takes over the throne from his father Ahaz, and in the first month of his reign, his first priority is to reopen the temple of the Lord, which his father had shut down for years.\u00a0\u00a0After repairing the temple, Hezekiah brings in the priests and Levites.\u00a0\u00a0In their presence, Hezekiah acknowledges that the reason Judah has become an object of ridicule among this nations, the reason why they have lost many who are dear to them, has everything to do with the fact that his and their ancestors have forsaken the Lord and His temple (v6-7).\u00a0\u00a0So Hezekiah initiates his plan to make a covenant with the Lord and to have the people return to Him.\u00a0\u00a0He involves the priests and Levites in his plan, reminding them that God has chosen them to serve Him (v11), putting them to the task of purifying the temple of everything unclean and getting the temple ready for use once again (v12-19).<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I love how Hezekiah\u2019s first order of business after becoming king (in the first month of the first year of his reign) was to reopen the temple and resume regular worship of the Lord in Judah.\u00a0\u00a0God would later bless Hezekiah tremendously for putting Him and His house first.\u00a0\u00a0Like Hezekiah\u00a0<strong>may you be someone who seeks first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and God will add everything you need (Matthew\u00a06:33).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"2\">Hezekiah was on a mission to restore and revitalize the temple, but wisely he did not try to do it on his own.\u00a0\u00a0He enlisted a team of priests and Levites, who were also called by God, to help. Likewise, God has a mission for you to accomplish, but He has not called you to do it on your own.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>To accomplish the dream God has placed in your heart and the mission God has for your life, you need a team.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"3\">Before the temple could be used for worship purposes again, the temple first had to be purified of everything unclean.\u00a0\u00a0Likewise,\u00a0<strong>you are the temple of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Through His blood shed on the cross,\u00a0<strong>Jesus Christ has purified us, cleansing us from our unrighteousness so that we can be used for God\u2019s purposes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"4\">Just as the priests and Levites that Hezekiah spoke to were chosen to stand before God and to serve and minister in His house, so you too are a priest in God\u2019s kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0You have been chosen to stand before God and to serve in His house with the time and talents He has given you (1 Peter 2:9).\u00a0\u00a0Now that by faith Christ has purified you and chosen you,\u00a0<strong>if you want God to use this temple that is your life to maximum effect, it\u2019s about getting rid of those things that get in the way of your worship of Him.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s about doing some house cleaning \u2013 repenting of sin and getting rid of those things that pull you away from your worship of the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s also about installing a security system by guarding your heart (Proverbs\u00a04:23) and allowing the Word of God to transform and protect the way you think (Romans 12:1-2).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, thank You for cleansing me with the blood of Jesus and for choosing me to be Your temple in which Your Holy Spirit lives.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You for choosing me to stand before You and to serve in Your house.\u00a0\u00a0Today and every day, may I seek Your kingdom first like Hezekiah did, and find that You add everything I need.\u00a0\u00a0May this life which is Your temple give You glory.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div
