He prayed to the\u00a0LORD, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign.<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But Hezekiah&#8217;s heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the\u00a0LORD&#8217;s wrath was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the\u00a0LORD&#8217;s wrath did not come upon them during the days of Hezekiah.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 24-26:\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>How we respond to God\u2019s grace is crucial.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0If your heart is proud like Hezekiah\u2019s was in verse 25, you will not respond to God when He treats you well and you will forfeit the blessing that God otherwise wants to give you.\u00a0\u00a0But if you repent of your pride and humble yourself before the Lord, as Hezekiah later does in verse 26, you give God room to bless you again.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2 Chronicles 32:27-31 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Hezekiah had very great riches and honor, and he made treasuries for his silver and gold and for his precious stones, spices, shields and all kinds of valuables.<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He also made buildings to store the harvest of grain, new wine and oil; and he made stalls for various kinds of cattle, and pens for the flocks.<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He built villages and acquired great numbers of flocks and herds, for God had given him very great riches.<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0It was Hezekiah who blocked the upper outlet of the Gihon spring and channeled the water down to the west side of the City of David. He succeeded in everything he undertook.<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 27-33:\u00a0\u00a0Verses 27-30 speak of Hezekiah\u2019s worldly success.\u00a0\u00a0Verse 31 speaks of God\u2019s test to see what was in Hezekiah\u2019s heart.\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When success comes your way, you will be tested.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0As Pastor Jon Courson writes, \u201cThe true test does not necessarily come in adversity but in prosperity. Be careful. The true test often comes when things are going well.\u201d (Jon Courson&#8217;s Application Commentary Old Testament Volume 1)\u00a0\u00a0<strong>So when things are going well, be grateful, stay humble and remember that your success is far more the Lord\u2019s doing than it is yours.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, I pray that I would always respond the right way to the grace You show me.\u00a0\u00a0Every day may my attitude toward You be one of open-hearted gratitude and humility, not close-hearted pride.
