'><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Nehemiah 11:1-36\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Nehemiah+11%3A1-36&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6518 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/191204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/191204.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/191204-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/191204-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Nehemiah 11:1-36.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Nehemiah 11:1-2 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.<br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The people commended all the men who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 1-36:\u00a0\u00a0Jerusalem was underpopulated and underdeveloped, with most Jews preferring to live in the neighbouring towns.\u00a0\u00a0Through a system of casting lots, 1 out of every 10 were to live in Jerusalem, while the other 9 could stay in their own towns.\u00a0\u00a0Anyone who volunteered to live in Jerusalem was commended.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This final chapter of Nehemiah lists various Israelites who moved to Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0When I think about the old city of Jerusalem in Nehemiah\u2019s time, I can\u2019t help but compare it to the \u201cnew Jerusalem\u201d, the heavenly city that Christians get to live in for eternity.\u00a0\u00a0This new Jerusalem is described in Scriptures such as Revelation 21 and Hebrews\u00a012:22.\u00a0\u00a0It is so different from the Jerusalem described in Nehemiah 10.\u00a0\u00a0For example:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Old Jerusalem is a city on earth.\u00a0\u00a0New Jerusalem is a city in heaven (Hebrews\u00a012:22;
