Then the king&#8217;s fury subsided.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-10:\u00a0\u00a0Here Esther risks her life and stands in the gap on behalf of her people, pleading with King Xerxes for the deliverance of the Jews from sure destruction.\u00a0\u00a0Similarly, Jesus would later stand in the gap for us as our advocate in the presence of God the king.\u00a0\u00a0He would sacrifice His life so that we could be delivered from sure destruction for our sin.\u00a0\u00a0Like Esther was to the Jews, Jesus is the hero of our story.<\/p>\n<p>Here we also see Haman being accused and convicted of doing evil.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0As punishment Haman is publicly killed by being hung from the crosspiece of a gallows for all to see.\u00a0\u00a0Only then did the king\u2019s fury subside (v10).\u00a0 This will sound shocking, but in certain ways Jesus is like Haman.\u00a0\u00a0For like Haman, Jesus would be accused, convicted, and punished by being hung from a crosspiece for all to see.\u00a0\u00a0Only upon Jesus&#8217; death would God\u2019s wrath against sinners subside.\u00a0\u00a0The crucial difference between Haman and Jesus however is that Jesus did no wrong; rather Jesus was punished for\u00a0<em>our<\/em>\u00a0sins.\u00a0\u00a0Though Jesus was innocent, he allowed himself to be called guilty.\u00a0\u00a0Though he was really the hero, he allowed himself to be the villain.\u00a0\u00a0It reminds me of what Isaiah prophesies about Jesus in Isaiah 53:5-6:<\/p>\n<p><em><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the\u00a0LORD\u00a0has laid on him the iniquity of us all.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Jesus, thank You for being my advocate who speaks to the King on my behalf.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You for even more assuming the role of the villain in my place, letting yourself be punished for my sin.\u00a0\u00a0In doing so, You became my hero and my Saviour, and You will always be worthy of my worship and adoration.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Esther 7:1-10.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Esther\u00a07:10\u00a0(NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n10\u00a0\u00a0So they hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.
