{"id":7089,"date":"2020-01-06T20:00:59","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T03:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/?p=7089"},"modified":"2020-01-05T19:15:11","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T02:15:11","slug":"job5_1-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/job5_1-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t Jump to Conclusions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Job 5:1-16 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Job+5%3A1-16&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7090 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200107.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200107.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200107-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200107-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Job 5:1-16.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Job 5:3-4 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I myself have seen a fool taking root,\u00a0but suddenly his house was cursed.<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0His children are far from safety,\u00a0crushed in court without a defender.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-7:\u00a0\u00a0In chapter 4 Eliphaz broke the silence by calling Job a weak hypocrite, a sinner who deserved the trouble he got (verses 7-11), and a prideful person that God has crushed (v12-21).\u00a0\u00a0Now here in chapter 5 Eliphaz calls Job a fool.\u00a0\u00a0Eliphaz suggests that Job is like a fool who prospered for a short while, but because of resentment and envy (v2), Job ended up suddenly being \u201ccursed\u201d (v3), his children endangered (v4), his reputation \u201ccrushed\u201d (v4) and his wealth consumed by others (v5).\u00a0\u00a0Eliphaz is saying that this kind of trouble doesn\u2019t just happen or come from nowhere (v6).\u00a0\u00a0Rather, just as sparks fly upward, human beings are inevitably destined to experience trouble because of their sin (\u201cman is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward\u201d (v7).<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\n<strong>Job 5:8 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;But if it were I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 8-16:\u00a0\u00a0Eliphaz counsels Job to \u201cappeal to God\u201d (v8).
