{"id":7093,"date":"2020-01-07T20:00:24","date_gmt":"2020-01-08T03:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/?p=7093"},"modified":"2020-01-05T19:22:03","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T02:22:03","slug":"job5_17-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/job5_17-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Pick Out the Good from the Bad"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Job 5:17-27 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Job+5%3A17-27&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7094 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200108.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200108.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200108-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/200108-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Job 5:17-27.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>On verses 17-27:\u00a0\u00a0Eliphaz concludes his speech with words that sound like they could come from the book of Psalms, Proverbs or the Old Testament prophets.\u00a0\u00a0Eliphaz\u2019s message to Job is not to despise the Lord\u2019s discipline (v17), but to treat his discipline as a blessing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Eliphaz\u2019s encouragement to Job is that if Job will have the right attitude toward the hardship he is going through, he will ultimately be restored, healed (v18), rescued (v19), delivered (v20), protected (v21), enjoy great peace (v22-24) and be very fruitful (v25-26).<\/p>\n<p>Eliphaz\u2019s message dovetails with other passages in the Bible like:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Proverbs 3:11-12 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0My son, do not despise the\u00a0LORD&#8217;s discipline and do not resent his rebuke,<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0because the\u00a0LORD\u00a0disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Hebrews 12:7, 11 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.
