Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-12:\u00a0\u00a0Here Zophar the Naamathite, Job\u2019s third friend, chimes in.\u00a0\u00a0Like Eliphaz and Bildad before him, Zophar\u2019s first words are heavy in judgment and light on grace.\u00a0\u00a0To paraphrase Zophar\u2019s words to Job, \u201cWill no one rebut your idle talk and rebuke your self-proclaimed innocence (v2-4)?\u00a0\u00a0I wish God would speak right now and shut you up, because the fact is God is punishing you less than you deserve (v5-6).\u00a0\u00a0God is so much bigger than you.\u00a0\u00a0Don\u2019t even try to measure His dimensions (v7-9).\u00a0\u00a0If He tries you in His court, you wouldn\u2019t stand a chance (v10).\u00a0\u00a0He sees right through deceitful men and takes note of what evil people do (v11).\u00a0\u00a0But stupid people will become wise about the same time that donkeys give birth to humans (v12).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0Here we must separate the wheat from the chaff in what Zophar says.<\/p>\n<p>Zophar is correct in saying that:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0we cannot fathom all that God does (v7-9).\u00a0\u00a0God is infinite.\u00a0\u00a0We are finite.\u00a0\u00a0Later on when the Lord speaks to Job, the Lord will ask Job many questions that show how little Job can understand about what God does.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0on our own we don\u2019t stand a chance in God\u2019s court of justice (v10-11).\u00a0\u00a0That is because \u201call have sinned and fall short of God\u2019s glory\u201d (Romans\u00a03:23).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0God punishes us less than our sins deserve (v6b).\u00a0\u00a0We can say that today especially because Jesus Christ paid the penalty for all of our sins when he died on the cross.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus suffered the wrath that was meant for us, so that we could be shown mercy.\u00a0\u00a0As Psalm 103:10 says, \u201che does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201ctrue wisdom has two sides\u201d (v6).\u00a0\u00a0On this side of heaven we can only see and make sense of so much.\u00a0\u00a0On the other side of heaven where God is, there is perfect knowledge and everything makes sense in the end.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s like an embroidery: on the back side of an embroidery you see all these random stitches and bits of string that don\u2019t seem to make any sense.\u00a0\u00a0You might also the outline of a design.\u00a0\u00a0But it\u2019s only when you flip the embroidery on its front side that you can see the whole picture as the embroiderer intended it and how all those seemingly random stitches fit together to make a complete and beautiful design.\u00a0\u00a0For as long as we live on this side of heaven and on this side of wisdom, we only see a part.\u00a0\u00a0It might not all make sense to us.\u00a0\u00a0But one day when we get to heaven, we\u2019ll see the other side and realize how God tied together the seemingly random stitches of our lives into the most beautiful design.\u00a0\u00a0As Paul says in 1 Corinthians\u00a013:12:<strong>\u00a0\u201c<\/strong>Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those are some of the good things we can take away from what Zophar said.\u00a0\u00a0What was wrong with what Zophar said?\u00a0\u00a0We\u2019ll look at that tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, with all my limitations, I cannot possibly fathom everything You have done, or why You do what You do.\u00a0\u00a0But thank You that all I see right now is not all there is.\u00a0\u00a0What I see are glimpses of a design.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You that on the other side of heaven, I\u2019ll get to see the whole beautiful picture in its entirety.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Job 11:1-12.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nJob 11:7 (NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n7\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;Can you fathom the mysteries of God?
