{"id":7631,"date":"2020-02-14T20:00:36","date_gmt":"2020-02-15T03:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/?p=7631"},"modified":"2020-02-09T17:42:36","modified_gmt":"2020-02-10T00:42:36","slug":"job28_1-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/job28_1-28\/","title":{"rendered":"Where You\u2019ll Find Wisdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Job 28:1-28\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Job+28%3A1-28&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7632 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/200215.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/200215.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/200215-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/200215-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Job 28:1-28.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Job 28:1-11 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;There is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined.<br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore.<br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Man puts an end to the darkness; he searches the farthest recesses for ore in the blackest darkness.<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Far from where people dwell he cuts a shaft, in places forgotten by the foot of man; far from men he dangles and sways.<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The earth, from which food comes, is transformed below as by fire;<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0sapphires come from its rocks, and its dust contains nuggets of gold.<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0No bird of prey knows that hidden path, no falcon&#8217;s eye has seen it.<br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Proud beasts do not set foot on it, and no lion prowls there.<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Man&#8217;s hand assaults the flinty rock and lays bare the roots of the mountains.<br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He tunnels through the rock; his eyes see all its treasures.<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He searches the sources of the rivers and brings hidden things to light.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-11:\u00a0\u00a0Why does Job speak at length about how people mine for silver and gold?\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s because Job is comparing getting wisdom to mining for precious metals.\u00a0\u00a0In both cases the treasure is hidden beneath the surface, requires an intentional and difficult search to find, is hard to reach (v4), and cannot be perceived by bird or beast (v7-8, 20-21).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Job 28:12-21 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?<br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Man does not comprehend its worth; it cannot be found in the land of the living.<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The deep says, &#8216;It is not in me&#8217;; the sea says, &#8216;It is not with me.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0It cannot be bought with the finest gold, nor can its price be weighed in silver.<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir, with precious onyx or sapphires.<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Neither gold nor crystal can compare with it, nor can it be had for jewels of gold.<br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention; the price of wisdom is beyond rubies.<br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The topaz of Cush cannot compare with it; it cannot be bought with pure gold.<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell?<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds of the air.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 12-21:\u00a0\u00a0But unlike gold that you get from a mine, wisdom cannot be uncovered with brute force, obtained with blunt objects or bought with money.\u00a0\u00a0The only way to get wisdom is through the fear of the Lord \u2013 trying to live a life that pleases God (v28) \u2013 for God alone knows where wisdom dwells (v23-24).\u00a0\u00a0Wisdom is far more precious than any precious metal (v15-19).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Job 28:22 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Destruction and Death say, &#8216;Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.&#8217;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 22:\u00a0\u00a0Why don\u2019t death and destruction have much knowledge of wisdom?\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s because wisdom walks hand in hand with life.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Over and over the Bible speaks about the close relationship between wisdom and life, how one powers the other.\u00a0\u00a0For example in the book of Proverbs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proverbs 3:16-17 says about wisdom, \u201c<em>long life<\/em>\u00a0is in her right hand\u2026she is\u00a0<em>a tree of life to those who embrace her<\/em>; those who lay hold of her will be blessed\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proverbs\u00a09:11\u00a0says, \u201c<\/strong>Wisdom will multiply your days and\u00a0<em>add years to your life<\/em>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proverbs\u00a016:22\u00a0says that \u201cWisdom is a\u00a0<em>fountain of life<\/em>\u00a0to those possessing it\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>God, wisdom and life all go hand in hand \u2013 you can\u2019t find one without the others.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Job 28:23-24 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells,<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 23-24:\u00a0\u00a0God is where true wisdom is at.\u00a0\u00a0If you need wisdom for your marriage, family, future, business, ministry, health or any other area of life, you need to go to God.\u00a0\u00a0For you won\u2019t grow in true wisdom without growing in your relationship with God.\u00a0\u00a0Grow in God, grow in wisdom.\u00a0\u00a0Push God away and you push wisdom away.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Job 28:25-27 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When he established the force of the wind and measured out the waters,<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0when he made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm,<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0then he looked at wisdom and appraised it;
