From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry.<br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me.<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I said, &#8216;I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O\u00a0LORD\u00a0my God.<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you,\u00a0LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-7:\u00a0 Here Jonah recounts how he cried out to God for help when he was drowning in the sea and how God rescued him.\u00a0 Similarly,\u00a0<strong>when we were drowning in the sea of our sin, Jesus came and rescued us from sure death.\u00a0 No matter what kind of trouble you may be in, like Jonah, believe that God\u2019s grace is greater and He can deliver you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Jonah 2:8-9 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the\u00a0LORD.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 8-9:\u00a0 In verse 8 Jonah is speaking from personal experience: he had worshiped the idol called \u201cmy comfort, my convenience, my agenda\u201d, but his idol worshiping tendencies came at the cost of forfeiting grace that otherwise could have been his.\u00a0 In worshiping comfort, Jonah could not find the comfort he was looking for.\u00a0 He realizes now that \u201csalvation comes from the Lord\u201d (v9) and only the Lord.\u00a0 Realizing this, Jonah repents and commits to doing what God had originally called him to do, which is to go to Nineveh and preach to its people (v9 \u2013 \u201cWhat I have vowed I will make good\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>You won\u2019t find comfort by worshiping comfort.\u00a0 If you want real salvation and lasting comfort, surrender to the Lord and let Him have His way in your life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<div id=\"m_4728658177067752936:p0\" role=\"button\" aria-label=\"Hide expanded content\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/x7Az90uC0FlqG1NQNJvbQl7YtYRlnWzoqu2O_ZLb9xIKhYpJarh3aZrZ_qlU6_VKMQpRwI5_nDi9FsJOqf0XSQHw_6yv1VK7rhIBScGS2g=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/ssl.gstatic.com\/ui\/v1\/icons\/mail\/images\/cleardot.gif\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><em><strong>Jonah 2:10 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And the\u00a0LORD\u00a0commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.<\/em>On verse 10:\u00a0 It\u2019s as if the Lord was waiting for Jonah to come to the realization that the One Jonah really needed was Him.\u00a0 Once Jonah had learned his lesson, humbled himself and prayed to the Lord, that was the secret password God was waiting to hear so that He could command the fish to vomit Jonah out.\u00a0 Thought it didn\u2019t seem like it at the time, the fish that swallowed Jonah was actually one of the best things that could ever happen to Jonah, for it was inside the fish that Jonah found the Lord once again.What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When you\u2019re stuck in the belly of a big problem and you can\u2019t get out, humble yourself before the Lord, knowing that He will rescue you in due time.\u00a0 Once the Lord finds that you have sufficiently learned the lesson He wants you to learn, He will give the command to set you free and send you onto the next part of your journey.\u00a0<\/strong><em>Heavenly Father, thank You for rescuing me when I was drowning in the sea of my sin.\u00a0 Thank You that Your grace is greater than all of my troubles put together.\u00a0 Thank You that You don\u2019t let situations swallow me up for no reason; rather, even in the midst of my biggest problems, You protect me and use the problem to teach me lessons You know I need to learn.\u00a0 Come Holy Spirit and let me learn every lesson You want me to learn during this time.\u00a0 I surrender to You.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Jonah 2:1-10.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Jonah 2:1 (NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n1\u00a0\u00a0From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the\u00a0LORD\u00a0his God.<br \/>\n2\u00a0\u00a0He said: &#8220;In my distress I called to the\u00a0LORD, and he answered me.
