I had always believed that Noah was safe inside the ark because he built it according to God’s specifications. The strength of the gopher wood and the integrity of the design ensured that the floodwaters would not enter the ark.
Genesis 7:16 changed everything. The verse (NIV) states, “The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.” Even after Noah had built the ark, it was God Himself who shut him in, to keep the floodwaters out.
It is not the locked doors of your house that keep you safe at night. It is not your driving skills that ensure your safety on the road. Only God can truly protect you, while the devil seeks to lead you astray and devour you.
Heavenly Father, we pray that as we walk into the streets and drive on the roads, oh God, shut us in. Father, we pray for our families and friends, those who are in the midst of danger. Father God, shut us in, shut us in your ark of protection. May the Almighty God seal us inside His ark of protection as we trust in Him and honor His word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
