「起初上帝創造天地」(創世記 1:1)
學生問道：「老師，什麼是『運氣』？運氣是不是上帝的旨意？」
「運氣」是人類以自己的聰明，創造出最高明的詞。每一種語言，都有運氣對等的字，例如英文是fortune。
運氣是以朦朧的詞句，作事情的結論，不討論原因，不看過去產生的因素，不看後來的發展，不管真實如何，不用驗證，就歸於「歹運」或「好運」。更可怕的是，在這含糊的語詞裡，有些人可用「改運」來操控人心，賺取許多的錢財。
「上帝的旨意」與「運氣」，完全是兩回事。上帝說祂創造世界，已經在告訴人世界的形成在祂，宇宙的法則在祂，不是運氣。
我們教學生「實驗課」，有物理實驗、化學實驗與生物實驗，在讓學生知道物理作用，化學有反應，生物有代謝，是有法則，不是運氣。因此，沒有運氣實驗課。
我們教學生，數學的證明題、計算題。證明與計算，都在培養學生的專心、解析與努力，不是運氣。我們教學生天文學，例如太陽系，系是系統，不是運氣。我們教學生水的循環，這循環幫助地球所有的生物，不是運氣。

Micah 7:1-7 (NIV)
1 What misery is mine! I am like one who gathers summer fruit at the gleaning of the vineyard; there is no cluster of grapes to eat, none of the early figs that I crave.
2 The godly have been swept from the land; not one upright man remains. All men lie in wait to shed blood; each hunts his brother with a net.
3 Both hands are skilled in doing evil; the ruler demands gifts, the judge accepts bribes, the powerful dictate what they desire– they all conspire together……..
On verses 1 to 7: Here Micah laments how he longs to find even one upright, trustworthy, God-honouring man or woman in Israel, but he cannot find any. Instead of placing his hope in people, Micah puts his hope in the Lord, for He alone is fully trustworthy and dependable. As Micah says in verse 7, “But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Saviour; my God will hear me.”
列王記上19章13節c 以利亞啊，你在這裡做什麼？
今年4月底傳來一個令人震驚的消息。有位在紐約醫院急診室的醫生自殺。Dr. Lorna M. Breen，這位曾救治了上百個新冠狀病毒肺炎的醫生，自己也被傳染上這個肺炎。我有朋友是她的同事，說她心裡著急醫院裡的病人需要救治，兩次試著回到醫院工作，兩次都被醫院婉拒。她回到她父母的家中調養，沒想到卻自殺了。消息傳來，她醫院的同事都感到非常痛心，在工作的壓力之外，更因此事而十分沮喪。
從新聞裡，我們也看到還有其他人因為受不了這次疫情的壓力而自殺了。壓力是我們的時代病，因為壓力而產生的憂鬱症比比皆是，而憂鬱症又往往讓人產生自殺的念頭和行為。在《聖經》裡也曾經有兩個人向神求死，你知道是誰嗎？
第一個你可能猜到了，就是約拿。因為神沒有滅掉尼尼微城的人，給他遮蔭的蓖麻又被蟲子咬死，因此他向神發怒，向神求死說：「我死了比活著還好！」
第二個人你想到了嗎？就是以利亞。你想過以利亞會求死嗎？他可是《聖經》裡行了許多神蹟的大先知，並且是沒有經過死亡，直接被接上天的大先知。神如此重用的僕人怎麼會這麼軟弱呢？而且他求死不是因為事業失敗，工作沒有成績，而是因為工作做得太好了。他不久前才在迦密山上打敗450個巴力的先知，讓以色列人看到耶和華是真神，巴力是假神，叫以色列人把那些假先知全都殺了。
然後神又應允他的禱告，讓三年半乾旱的以色列重獲甘霖；接著他還跟亞哈王的馬車賽跑，從迦密山一直跑到亞哈王的行宮所在的耶斯列，他居然奔在亞哈的前頭，先抵城門。這時的以利亞充滿靈力。

Micah 6:1-5 (NIV)
1 Listen to what the LORD says: “Stand up, plead your case before the mountains; let the hills hear what you have to say.
2 Hear, O mountains, the LORD’s accusation; listen, you everlasting foundations of the earth. For the LORD has a case against his people; he is lodging a charge against Israel.
3 “My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me.
4 I brought you up out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. I sent Moses to lead you, also Aaron and Miriam.
5 My people, remember what Balak king of Moab counseled and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember [your journey] from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD.”
On verses 1-5: Micah sees a vision of the Lord. In this vision, like an attorney in a courtroom speaking to a jury, the Lord speaks to the mountains about his case against Israel (v1-2). The Lord then addresses Israel directly, asking what it is that God has done to burden them (v3) and recalling His goodness to them:

今年五月中，再一個星期，溫哥華的政府決定要開始放鬆對疫情的控制了，從一點一點開始：五月中，六月，七月，九月，至於想觀看溫哥華的熱門運動冰上曲棍球Canuck，就要等到疫苗研發出來。可能球迷會很失望，但是對一般人而言，我們己經沉浸在回復自由的喜悅中。感覺這兩個多月的等待實在值得，因為不僅幫助自己，也幫助別人，讓疫情得到控制。
在《聖經》中最會等待的人莫過於以撒了，亞伯拉罕一百歲才得到的應許之子。照理來說，一般老年得子的人都會把這個老來子竉上天，可是在《聖經》裡，這個老來子似乎被調教得非常好。當以撒在等待時，他十分安靜。他的一生中有三個比較顯著的等待。
亞伯拉罕住在迦南，迦地不是沒有女人，但是當亞伯拉罕差遣老僕去他的老家為以撒擇妻時，以撒就非常順服地在家等候。事實上，《聖經》告訴我們，在以撒等到老僕人帶利百加回來，並娶她為妻後，他的心才得了安慰。在這之前因為母親去世，使他一直處在悲傷的情緒裡，直到利百加來，他才得了安慰。他迫切需要有人安慰，但是他寧可順服等待，也不肯像他兒子以掃一樣，就地找迦南女人結婚或鬼混。這是他的第一個等待。
第二個等待是妻子的懷孕。身為應許之子，怎能沒有後裔？若是利百加不孕，會不會有第二個夏甲呢？當年亞伯拉罕的妻子撒拉，就因為自己不孕，強迫老公和侍女同寢，沒想到造成中東直到現在爭戰不停的局面。

Micah 5:1-5 (NIV)
1 Marshal your troops, O city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel’s ruler on the cheek with a rod.
2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”
3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites.
4 He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.
5 And he will be their peace…
On verses 1-5a: Here Micah sees a dichotomous, two part vision: on one hand he sees Israel being besieged and struck by its enemies (v1). On the other hand, Micah also sees that out of Bethlehem is coming a very special ruler for Israel, one “whose origins are from of old, from ancient times” (v2). Micah is talking about the Messiah (Saviour King) that he sees coming. “Until the time when she who is in labor gives birth” (v3), meaning until this Messiah is born, Israel will be abandoned and without a shepherd.

這個星期一(5月4日)的中午，在美國猶他州的一條高速公路上，警察發現有輛汽車開得歪來歪去的，疑心有人醉酒開車，便上前阻攔。沒想到在方向盤後面，坐著一個五歲的小男孩。原來小男孩和他母親吵架，他要母親買一輛Lamborghini蘭博基尼跑車給他。母親不答應，他就偷偷拿了父母的車匙，自己想要開車到加利福尼亞州去買蘭博基尼。警察很幽默，說他可能帶不夠錢，因為他的口袋裡只有三塊錢。
昨天我們談到順服和信心，信心帶出順服的行動，不信也會帶出不順服的行為。信心帶出的順服行動會榮耀主名，榮神益人；不信的行動所帶出的不順服行為卻是相反的。
據新聞報導，美國弗吉尼亞州里士滿附近一個社區裡，有位著名福音派牧師杰拉爾德·格倫主教不肯關閉教堂，後因與新冠肺炎COVID-19有關的疾病去世。加州也有牧師控訴政府阻止信徒到教堂敬拜，其中的薩克拉曼多Sacramento區，有71人因為參與聚會而被感染。當牧者說，神比任何病毒都偉大時，信徒能反對嗎？
最近因為新冠肺炎傳染力強，政府要求大家開始戴口罩。在美國俄亥俄Ohio州有位共和黨的官員說，因為人是按著神的形像造的，這形像大部份彰顯在人的臉上，戴口罩會遮住神的形像，所以他拒絕戴口罩。

Today’s passage is Micah 4:1-13. Let’s go!
Micah 4:1 (NIV)
1 In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.
On verse 1: In verses 1-8 Micah is describing what will happen “in the last days” (v1), meaning the time when Jesus Christ returns to establish His kingdom. Here in verse 1 Micah prophesies about the day that “the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains…raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.” (v1) In other words, Micah is prophesying of the day when the worship of the Lord takes first place and centre stage in people’s hearts.
What can we learn from this? Right now you may be facing a mountain in your life, or maybe even multiple mountains, but no matter what always give first place and centre stage to the Lord. Let your worship of God and your intimacy with Him always be your number priority. For when you fix your eyes on Jesus, when you remember that His greatness no one can match, then you can say to whatever other mountain you may be facing, “You’re not so big after all. For my God is greater.”
創世記6章22節 挪亞就這樣行。凡神所吩咐的，他都照樣行了。
我們都知道神給了我們許多應許，但是我們卻常常覺得禱告得不到回應？這當中有什麼地方出錯了嗎？
最近外甥女婿摩西在我家後院開闢了一個菜園，因為是工程系畢業的，特別喜歡挑戰，做了好幾個泥床，拉水管自動澆水，放各樣的肥料，忙得不易樂乎。我們就揀現成的，做三明治時就出去拿幾片菜葉，做沙拉時也去抓一些baby green，最嫰的生菜葉。從他下種後，沒有人擔心過菜會長不出來，只擔心來不及吃。因為我們的頭腦裡從來沒有懷疑過，菜會長不出來。
我們對摩西有信心。我們對天氣也有信心，溫哥華的四.五月，時雨時晴，要陽光有陽光，要雨有雨，神的恩典十分充沛。即使在疫情當中，我們也相信生活終會恢復正常，疫情將會過去。這種信心很難解釋，就是一種相信每天都在神的手中，知道神掌管明天的坦然，所以我們可以開心地迎接神給我們的每一天。
但是在摩西種蕃茄時發生了一點小小的挫折，因為Google說五月才可以種蕃茄，他在三月就迫不及待地種了。雖然是先放在室內，但有兩棵在搬到室外時凍死了。Google還是經驗老到的。萬物都有時機，搶先是不行的。神藉著萬物來訓練人的順服，也讓人看到順服的重要性，順服和信心之間的關係。
