Hi GAMErs!
Today’s passage is Deuteronomy 30:1-10. Let’s go!
Deuteronomy 30:1-10 (NIV)
1 When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come upon you and you take them to heart wherever the LORD your God disperses you among the nations,
2 and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today,
3 then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.
4 Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.
5 He will bring you to the land that belonged to your fathers, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.
6 The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.
7 The LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you.
8 You will again obey the LORD and follow all his commands I am giving you today.
9 Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers,
10 if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
On verses 1-10: In Deuteronomy 30:1-10 we see God’s heart to restore people who have run away from Him. For those Israelites who had rebelled against God and who were cursed and banished for their disobedience, verses 1 to 3 say that if they will return to the Lord and obey Him once again, then God will restore them and have compassion on them.
What can we learn from this? No matter how far away you run from God or how low you fall, you are never beyond God’s reach. God is always willing to bring you home if you would let Him. As verse 4 says, “Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.”
So if you’ve been far from God, know that God’s heart beats with compassion for you. He wants to restore you and bring you near to Himself again.
If you come back to Him…
…He will bring you to that place where you were always meant to be, the place of your destiny (verse 5a).
…He will give you a “circumcised heart” (verse 6) meaning that you can have a brand new start with Him, a new relationship where you can love God and be loved by Him (see also verse 8).
…He will protect you from your enemies (verse 7).
…He will cause you to prosper (verses 5b and 9).
Thank You Lord that we are never too far beyond Your reach. Thank You for always making a way for us to come back to You. No matter how many times we run away from You, thank You that You’re always there to welcome us with open arms. Your love Lord is amazing! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
